How I Work

Every practice is different.

You might be starting out and need help getting the financial side set up properly. You might already have a busy established practice but feel you don’t have a clear enough picture of how it is performing. Or you may simply want someone to take the bookkeeping off your hands and give you useful insight into the numbers at the same time.

That’s why I don’t start with a fixed package.

I start by understanding where your practice is right now, what you already have in place and what you would like to improve.

1 Book an initial conversation

The first step is simply to talk.

I’ll ask about your practice, how you currently manage the financial side of the business and what you feel is working- or not working- at the moment.

You don’t need to have everything organised before we speak. In fact, very often the reason someone gets in touch is because they’re not quite sure what they need.

My job is to help work that out with you.

2 I look at what you already have

Before recommending anything, I want to understand the information and systems already available.

Where possible, I work with what is already there rather than introducing new systems unnecessarily.

Sometimes only a few changes are needed. Other times, there are gaps that need to be filled before you can get a reliable picture of how the practice is performing.

3 We decide what would make the biggest difference.

Once I understand the current position, I’ll recommend the support I think will be most useful. That might be putting stronger financial foundations in place.

It might mean taking over your bookkeeping and providing regular analysis alongside it.

Or you may already have good bookkeeping in place and simply need someone to look more closely at performance, margins, costs,and the areas that are driving – or limiting- profit.

You'll receive a clear proposal setting out what I recommend, costs and what is involved before you any further commitment required.
